When was the last time you got a solid 8 hour slumber? With no gadget by your side, no distractions and no roommate switching on the lights every now and then?

Can't remember? Me Neither. All of us all guilty of not giving our body enough rest and deep sleep. Along with affecting your memory, adrenaline levels and mood, your skin gets a tough beating because of lack of sleep.

Here we give you 7 reasons to get that beauty sleep TONIGHT!

1. PH Balance of Skin

Skin too dry? Acne/blemish-prone? Before compensating by slathering on heavy duty moisturizers and oils, sleep well for a month and see the difference.

Sleep is a natural moisturizer that can smooth out wrinkles. Lack of sleep will affect moisture levels and lower your complexion's PH Balance.

2. Not getting enough sleep depreciates your natural beauty

There's a reason they call it beauty sleep. Increased inflammatory cells in the body lead to an increase in the breakdown of collagen and hyaluronic acid, the molecules that give the skin its glow, bounce, and translucency.

3. It helps your body recover

While you're sleeping, the body's hydration rebalances. Skin is able to recover moisture, while excess water in general in the body is processed for removal. Not getting enough sleep results in poor water balance, leading to puffy bags under your eyes and under-eye circles, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles.

4. Sleep deprivation makes you develop dark circles

As you sleep, your body's cells regenerate, especially at skin level. Burning the candle at both ends is the no. 1 reason your blood vessels dilate, which leads to dark circles. Getting enough sleep keeps everything operating how it should and will help reduce the blue or purple shadow under your eyes.

5. Sleep makes your body get rid of toxins

Sleep is food for your brain, body, and skin, and if you don't get enough, you deprive each of its nourishment. "During a good night's rest, your body works to remove dead blood cells and dead brain cells, and clears the pathways for new synapses to take place so that new blood and brain cells can replace old ones,". Your brain gets rid of 60 percent more toxins when you get the proper amount of sleep

6. Lesser Wrinkles

Skin makes new collagen when you sleep, which prevents sagging. Alot more collagen collagen means skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle. If you get only 5 hours of sleep, it will give you twice as much as wrinkles as opposed to getting 7b hours of sleep. It also leaves skin drier, which can make lines more visible,

7. Increased blood flow around your face

Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake up to a healthy glow. Sacrifice on sleep and your complexion can look lifeless. Increased blood flow with optimum sleep can give you a much more radiant, glowing complexion.
